| Economical be - It is important to monitor your keyword bids on daily basis. If you don't, you may still be paying too high. Lets look at this example of how much 5 advertisers are paying for the keyword "debt consolidation'
Advertiser 1: $20
Advertiser 2: $18
Advertiser 3: $16
Advertiser 4: $15
Advertiser 5: $4
The fourth advertiser is losing a lot of money. By bidding at just $5, he would still be able to stay at number 4 for the keyword and outbid his competitor.
Target keyword phrases as well - It's a fact that many advertisers target singe keywords. So you will find out that words such as "music" are highly competed for. Now, if you can add a small adjective, you can still generate a lot of traffic without having to pay too much for PPC clicks. Let's take a scenario. A search at Overture for searches on the word "music" produced a result of 8527738. The next highest keyword phrase is "download music" of 5326538. The difference between these two keywords is not much but you can obtain the second keyword for one-tenth of the price for the first because it is not be sought for by the major competitors.
KEYWORD RESEARCH MECHANICS
No matter how small or elaborate your PPC campaign is, there is no way you can avoid the issue of quality keywords. Here are a few suggestions to make the most of targeted keywords.
Use the keywords that describe your products or services . If you run a search and there are searches for secondary or compound versions of your word, bid on them as well. Get keywords that best describe your products/service. Sometimes you may even bid on misspelled words as people often type the wrong words such as "downlod" for "download".
When you have decided on the keywords or keyword phrases to use, visit a PPC search engine and determine how much your competitors are paying for those keywords . Find out especially about the top ten and then bid according to your budget, your current conversion ratio and advertising objectives. It should not end there; try to find out what's happening to your keyword. Constantly try to find out if the word can be modified to reflect current searches or whether you have to bid higher to outcompete other businesses.
